6) Goals: Conference champ!

7) Favorite track/trail/course: the regionals course in hendersonville.

8) Favorite sneaker: Mizuno Wave Rider 11

9) Best type of weather to run in: about 60 degrees and overcast... not humid.

10) Why you enjoy running: I love running because it's just fun! You make friends. You get competition. You get confidence. And it keeps you fit! :D

11) Biggest achievement: Being Most Valuable Freshman

12) Awards/Accomplishments (feel free to brag): Varsity as a freshman. Going to regionals as a freshman (and finishing in 12th! out how many?... oh about 200). Going to state as a freshman. Qualifying for The Durham Striders Open in the 1600m. Qualifying for the Virginia Tech Invitational in the 3200m.

Hello [15 Jun 2008|07:15pm]

sprintergirl
I second the post below this one... This is so cool.

1) Name: Anna
2) State: NH
3) Age: A lady never tells
4) Event(s): In my entire career? Oh geez... 55m, 300m, 4x200m, 100m, 200m, 4x100m, 4x400m
5) PR (Personal Record): 13.6 in the 100m, 28.8 in the 200m. The others were too long ago
6) Goals: I want to run a mountain race. Because a sprinter on a mountain race? That'd just be nasty.
7) Favorite track/trail/course: Dartmouth/anything in the White Mountains/Derryfield Park
8) Favorite sneaker: New Balance
9) Best type of weather to run in: Cool and breezy, partly cloudy
10) Why you enjoy running: Because I was the kid who had to sit out the mile in gym with bad asthma.
11) Biggest achievement: See above. I regard my whole career as an achievement.
12) Awards/Accomplishments (feel free to brag): Eh. I have a few. It's all good.
13) Injuries (current or past): Oh, man. Pulled hamstring on my starting leg, tendonitis in my ankles, IT band issues like woah. I have massively busted shins at the moment. Six month hiatus for me. Grrr.
14) Favorite running quote (if you have one): "To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift." -Pre, of course

Hello! [08 Jun 2008|01:19pm]

sadiebabi
This is so cool. :D

1) Name: Sadie
2) State: CT
3) Age: 16
4) Event(s): Whatever my coach makes me run, I've run everything from the 200 to the 2 mile. But I usually run the 400, 800, and 1600.
5) PR (Personal Record): Its my first year running so I plan on improving lots but I'm pretty proud of some of my times. 400 in 65, 800 in 2:39 (super lame- my coach tells me I should be running 2:30), and 5:56 mile.
6) Goals: To stop being so negative towards running and fix my mindset. When you go into a race thinking you are going to do bad, in my case, you always do bad. I would also love to break 2:30 in my 800 and 5:40 in my mile.
7) Favorite track/trail/course: I love my own track kind of sort of but I really like Wilton's XC course.
8) Favorite sneaker: Asics.
9) Best type of weather to run in: Colder weather but not too cold, like 50s with sun, early morning.
10) Why you enjoy running: Its just one of those things... never ever planned on doing it or enjoying it and I never even realized I loved it until this year. I mean, I don't know exactly why I enjoy it, I guess I love knowing I'm still alive when I finish or when working so hard pays off, you get that through running. My team is a hugeeee part of it, the people I run with are some of my best friends and we always have so much together.
11) Biggest achievement: Running at States in 4x400.
12) Awards/Accomplishments (feel free to brag): Well, I was an alternate at states for the 4x800 but ended up running the 4x400 with seniors and juniors of my team and doing really well for myself, I've never run to this day a better 400. And just making it to FCIACS and States in general, and working so hard- earning my spot on the team.
13) Injuries (current or past): Stress fractures (which suck majorly because you can't run until further notice and they don't hurt so much when you actually run but kill you when you walk). Being injured at all, just sucks.
14) Favorite running quote (if you have one): "All you have to give is all you have" and a bunch more.

1) Name: Stephanie

2) State: Connecticut

3) Age: 15 - Sophomore

4) Event(s): Jav, Disc, Shot, and soon Hammer

5) PR (Personal Record): Jav: 62' 4"; Disc: 74' 1"; Shot: 24' 5"; Hammer: We'll know soon

6) Goals: This year I'm hoping to go to NVL's (our league championship). Junior year my goal is Hartford Public and States. Senior year I really want to go out with a bang and make it to Nationals which doesn't seem too out of reach since from last year to this year I've made a 20 ft. jump in discus already...

7) Favorite track/trail/course: Watertown's track - I always do my best there for some reason. Danbury track is pretty amazing though too... (Outdoor) The Armory in NYC where the Holiday Classic meet is held is friggen amazing too! (Indoor)

8) Favorite sneaker: ...I love my throwing shoes. Is that a good enough substitute? Because I really hate throwing in my sneakers ever since I got those puppies - I move so much quicker and easier.

9) Best type of weather to run in: A couple days after a good rain, when the grass isn't too wet that way the discus grips just right

10) Why you enjoy running: I like throwing because even though we may seem like we don't do much, that's really NOT true. We work harder than a lot of runners. My philosophy on running vs. throwing? Running is something you learn to do naturally. Throwing you have to learn a variety of drills and techniques. I'm not quite sure why I like throwing though... It's just something that I'm really good at, like doing, and love to relieve stress through :D

11) Biggest achievement: I don't really have any yet aside from hitting personal bests and goals. I have a couple medals from last years' freshman meets and a 4th place ribbon for jav at JV NVLs...

12) Awards/Accomplishments (feel free to brag): Even though I don't meet the requirements for varsity on my team, they still consider me varsity because of how close I am (like... 6 ft. which isn't much in discus) and how hard I work for my spot on the 'varsity throwing squad' XD

13) Injuries (current or past): None, but I am missing my right hand so I sometimes get minor bruises and cuts from weightlifting.

14) Favorite running quote (if you have one): 'I'd rather eat and throw, than run and puke.' Kind of insulting to runners but holy mothers, do I see it all the time at practice! I'm sorry, but I'd rather be a little bit bigger and run an 11 second 55m (in indoor - only running I've ever competed in), than run an 8.05 second 55m and puke everyday at practice. I <3 throwing and I therefore <3 digesting food XD

So tomorrow I'm off to the Region X Junior Olympics in New Mexico where I'm going to be competing in the Long Jump! I'm excited because it's my last year of eligibilty for the Junior Olympic circuit. I'm hoping to qualify for the National Championships for a 4th consecutive year, but if I don't, I won't be too heartbroken since I've already achieved more than I ever could have hoped for. So for once, I'm just going to try and have fun while I'm there.

Overall I had the best season ever, and I'm stoked. I finished my regular school season with personal records in all of my events.

I ran 10.81 in the 100m dash, and jumped a wind-aided 23'2" (it was waaaaaay windy tho, so my legal PR became 22'10")

So after the Junior Olympics are done, I start training at the University of Arizona! Yay! I'm so stoked, and 10x's more nervous. Whoa. Still hasn't sunk in yet!

Well, I hope everyone had a good season, and good luck with everything else!

punkrocktink12
Hey everyone! :-) so i had a knee injury 2 years ago which ended my sprinting. I then became a distance. This past year (my junior year) my coach asked me to try steeple chase. I said sure, was suprisingly good at it and am now an all out steeple chase runner. my bes tie is 9:54 which i got at states.  i only ran it like 5 times this past season. Does anyone have any advice for me on running it?

Hey guys.

I haven't been active here in ... forever. I went away to college & had to quit running (which was awful b/c I was on the team in college - Division 1) because my injuries just got to the point where I couldn't function anymore.

But I just wanted to say I'm still around & am going to attempt to be a lot more active. So if anyone has questions, advice, etc this is defintely the place for it. I'm pretty good with the advice thing ...

Also - if anyone has quotes or whatever, post them here too :)

torrunator
hey everyone

track has started in Oregon. It's my senior year, I didn't race last year because I was in pit for the school play. I've always desired to be a good runner, always felt I was capable, but never...quite did it. I did Cross Country for four years and pr'd my sophmore year and never broke it by much again. I did track, tried longer distance, shorter distances, nothing really suited me, but i've always felt more like a middle-distance runner.

I decided i'd run the 800 this year and so far have been pretty competetive. I ran a 2:15 my first time, which my coach was pretty happy with. I ran a 2.11 at our next race, a pretty big race, and all the runners were pretty impressed. Our next meet is thursday and my goal is a 2.07. It's faster, but I can feel it! Aha! I'm so excited to race. It's all I want to do.

Also, for fun I am running the 3000 after my 800. Just to see.

I've also been lifting weights pretty consistantly and I feel good about it.

Basically I just posted because I feel good about this season, much more than any last season. Is anyone else having a good season so far?
